Here’s a few pictures I took this morning before leaving him at the school (you can click on them to view them larger).

When I asked him how his day went, he said that it was good.  I asked him what he did and this is basically his response.

I played with the train, played with the domino’s, played on the play ground, and had story time.

I then asked him if he had fun, and his response.

Well, I had fun, but I got bored during story time.

Kind of figured he’d get bored, however, I didn’t think that he’d get bored so quickly.  Hopefully tomorrow, being a full day, will be more entertaining and less boring for him

It’s been a little bit of an adventure getting to this point, well, getting him set up for school that is.  We got him “registered” back in May and then we had to wait until his 5-year checkup before we could get him fully enrolled because they needed all his shot records and a current checkup.  We got that taken care of at the beginning of the month and dropped off the paperwork to the administrative building.  A couple weeks later we got a call that they still didn’t have them and one of the forms still needed some information filled out on it.  Hubby went by the school two weeks ago (the week before he started working again) and tried to get the paperwork filled out but the school was all locked up.  I tried to stop by this past Friday since I was off work, and again the school was all locked up.  I called them this morning to ensure that everything was taken care of, except the contact paperwork and to ensure he was to start school because we hadn’t received anything from the school about when it starts, where his class is, etc.  Everything is taken care of now.  They faxed me the form that needed to be completed and I faxed it back, they have all his shot records and current checkup information and school starts the day after Labor Day.  The letter should be going out this week, yeah, cutting it a bit close, but it’s coming.

Our next mission is getting him set up for the Latch key program at the school so that I don’t have to drop down to part-time in order to make sure he can get to school on time and picked up right after school.  I’ll leave that for another post .

For the next week, Thaddeus will be here at work with me so that we don’t have to find a sitter just for the week.  It’s nice having him around but at the same time it can be a pain because he loves all the attention and well, I just can’t give it to him 100% of the time while at work.  We forgot to bring a movie for him to watch today, so he’s having a hard time having enough to do even though he has a bucket-o-soldiers, several dinosaurs, cars, coloring books and crayons, and more to play with here.

I hope this isn’t a vision of what it’ll be like for him in school, bored of having to sit there and listen all day .  That is my biggest fear right now with him starting school.  He’s already very smart and I’m just afraid that he’ll get bored with learning things he already knows.  Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Do you know how hard it is to keep a five year old entertained for eight and a half hours a day when you are unable to attend to them the entire time?  It’s not that easy however, I’ve managed to do that so far for three days.  We’ve had all kinds of toys brought in with us, we’ve watched (yeah, I’ve watched some too), the three Pirate of the Caribbean movies, made drawings, taken naps, eaten lunch, and done just about anything else you can imagine while still getting all my work done.

It’s been fun so far; however the days are just dragging along.  Thankfully this week will be a short week for me, we’ve got AT&T coming out to hook us up with U-Verse TV, new phone and internet on Friday, so I’ll be taking the day off to be home for that and after that I have to go to Thaddeus’ school to ensure all the paperwork is filled out and they have everything they need to allow him in school after Labor Day.  Next week is a different story though, it’ll be a full five days of work and I’m betting they will be long days just like this week.

After that, we’ll have to do some figuring out.  We aren’t sure yet what to do for after school.  I’ll either have to go to part time, about five and a half hours of work or put Thaddeus in latchkey until I would normally get home from work.  We just have to work that part out because we aren’t sure about the latchkey program (cost and location) and which will be cost effective for us.  More to come on that when we figure it out.

Today my little baby boy turns 5!  I can’t believe that he’s 5 years old already Time is just flying and he’s going to be all grown up before we know it!

Once we got home, I put the stroller back into the breezeway and we told Thaddeus that he could run through the sprinkler in the clothes he was wearing.  Off he ran, to cool off

After a few minutes, I sat down at my computer to write up other stuff and hubby was behind me on the couch, we looked outside and this is what we found…..PLEASE WATCH THE ENTIRE CLIP, IT GETS BEST AT THE END.

As you can tell, he’s enjoying it, even if the water this particular day was super cold!  Yeah, the video is a little messed up, mainly because it was taken with my iPhone and instead of turning it sideways to take the video, I kept it strait up.  Oh well, it works!

So, my husband is very much afraid of Chickens.  When I say very much afraid, I mean VERY afraid.  We visit his moms and she has to take down all knickknacks of chickens/roosters because he will threaten to break them (he’s kicked the beak off of a big chicken statue ones) because he’s afraid of them.  Long story short, as a child he was “attacked” by a chicken.  Personally, it’s his own fault.  Shouldn’t have been in the chicken’s home

Anyway, when you have kids and they get the hiccups, you always try to scare them to get rid of the hiccups.  Well, at least that’s how I was always told to do it and it actually work.  So, one day while I was at work (hubby told me the story when I got home), hubby got the hiccups. So what does our 4-year old little monster do?  He starts clucking like a chicken.  At first hubby didn’t get what he was doing.  That is, until Thaddeus said something along the lines of, “Have I scared the hiccups out of you yet daddy?” That is when he realized that Thaddeus was clucking like a chicken…”Bauck, Bauck, Bauck….”
